Bench Jeweller

 


This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Part Time Bench Jeweller to carry out high quality bench work, contribute to bespoke and repair projects, and support the team in delivering exceptional craftsmanship.

The role will be based in our studio in Marylebone, London, and is a key position within the company, supporting the smooth day-to-day running of our workshop.



Responsibilities include:

  • Fulfilling the in-house production needs of all bridal and bespoke fine jewellery orders to tight deadlines, as well as ad-hoc repair and resizing needs;

  • Working closely with the product team to make samples, small production runs and carry our repairs;

  • Problem solving production issues, as well as researching and developing new techniques;

  • Manage the maintenance, calibration, and upkeep of all workshop tools and machinery;

  • Estimating and negotiating costs with external suppliers;

  • Navigating laser engraving desktop software to apply engravings to jewellery items;

  • Maintain an organised inventory of materials, tools, and supplies, ordering new stock as needed

  • Develop and implement processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance the quality of finished pieces in line with our sustainable ethos;

  • Ensure all pieces produced meet our quality standard with attention to detail in design, finish, and durability

  • Maintain accurate records of production schedules, inventory, and workshop expenses;

  • Provide regular reports on workshop performance, including productivity, quality, and any issues that may arise;

  • Help manage compliance with health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe and productive workshop environment for all of the team;

  • Perform ad-hoc tasks as needed to support the smooth and efficient operation of the wider team.

Required experience & skills:

  • Strong benchwork skills with experience and knowledge in the cleaning and polishing of castings, soldering,wax carving and modelling, metal forming and forging, general repairs and ring resizing;

  • Certifiable design / jewellery production qualification, BA degree or equivalent;

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a workshop environment;

  • Experience working with fine metals (gold, platinum) essential;

  • Previous experience in a management role is an advantage;

  • Skills in Adobe software and CAD are an advantage;

  • Strong planning, organisation and leadership skills;

  • Flexible and self-motivated with ability to problem solve, carry out tasks independently and prioritise workload;

  • An attention to detail and ability to anticipate the needs of the studio and workshop team;

  • Strong negotiation skills and decision making ability;

  • Ability to work under pressure and motivate others to meet tight deadlines;

  • Strong work ethic with an ability to produce a high volume of work quickly and to a high standard;

  • Interest in the world of Completedworks and passion for luxury goods.
